Youth and Education Investment
Our young people are the future of Lansing. As a current School Board member, I understand the critical role local government plays in supporting youth beyond the classroom. On City Council, I will advocate for investments in youth programming, safe public spaces, and accessible transportation so our kids can get to school, work, and recreation safely.
I will also work to strengthen partnerships between the city, the Lansing School District, Michigan State University, and Lansing Community College—helping to expand existing programs that connect youth to job training, internships, and mentorship opportunities. While City Council doesn’t run schools or colleges, we can use our platform, budget decisions, and relationships to create more pathways for Lansing’s youth to thrive—whether through city-supported youth employment programs, partnerships with local businesses, or investments in community centers that offer learning and workforce development opportunities. Every young person in Ward 2, and those throughout Lansing, should see a future for themselves right here in our city—and have the support and opportunities to build it.
